Pussy Deluxe

January 31st, 2006

PussydeluxePardon us, but this is truly the name of the amazingly successful lingerie brand from Germany. Talk about commotion in Barcelona and Berlin, when when 6″ tall girls dressed with little more than what you see in the image stroll through the halls and hand out flyers… It’s an enchanting and fun collection of lingerie and day wear, that’s quirky, playful and doesn’t take the category overly serious - like other seem to do. Amazingly, they seem to be the only ones with that kind of an attitude, because there was nothing that compared, but see for yourself: www.pussydeluxe.de

A Watch For All Time

January 31st, 2006

WatchhajiSunnier days are reminding us that it’s almost time to spring forward, which means out with the old watches and in with the new. We like these ultra-slim designs with bands in khaki, beige and stark white. While shopping in London, we stumbled upon them at Haji&White, nestled in the heart of East End’s Brick Lane. The shop sells creative collections made by emerging stars and recent graduates, along with an eclectic selection of vintage objets d’art so, naturally, these make our “it” list.

Leslie Ann Black Bag Boomerang Yellow Tote

January 30th, 2006

Boomerangyellowtote-1What’s your bag? Modern and divine, this tote is fit for ladies on the go and reinstates that traveling the world doesn’t mean you have the right to look disheveled. Thank you, Leslie Ann. If you are any sort of Marie enthusiast you can appreciate its witty nostalgia. It’s anything but dreary; it’s engaging, interesting and fashionably necessary. If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at the beatnik look, now’s your chance to do so rather exquisitely. And for 20 bucks you can have it singed, sealed and delivered.

Extravagant Excess-ories

January 27th, 2006

NdillonLike those of us here at C&M, SF-based designer Nathan Dillon finds himself traveling to foreign lands such as Europe, Africa and Asia in an effort to uncover exotic materials that truly dazzle and delight. Such was the case with these splendid cuffs, which are made from exotic skins of snake, alligator, ostrich and other materials purchased from tribes and dealers around the globe. The bracelets are unisex, though some are more feminine in appearance than others, particularly the ones that are adorned with rare stones. Now you can wear the very essence of worldly style on your wrist.

C Power in a Powder

January 27th, 2006

SebaghVitamin C is said to work wonders when applied topically, but until now, we’d only seen it in vitamin or cream form. Dr. Sebagh’s active Vitamin C (said to be higher in concentration than any other on the market) has been microencapsulated into a powder that’s quite dynamic in its approach. You can dust it over the skin or mix it with another cream. Its creators claim that “Vitamin C loses 85% potency within one hour of opening the jar, and [this cream] overcomes that stability problem.”

Off the Cuff Style

January 26th, 2006

Studio1There are so many uses for a leftover wine bottle. For stranded islanders, there’s the whole “message in a bottle” thing and, of course, for Martha Stewart types, there plenty of crafts that put wine labels to good use (we’ve even tried lacquering a collage onto an end table). The uses of cork are even more varied, as designer Donna Piacenza will attest. This wrist cuff explores natural cork’s use as a wearable, unisex material. It’s recyclable, flexible and water repellant, unlike the 24 karat collection in your jewelry box. We found this one via coolhunting.com, a really fab online resource.

Art and Fashion Collide

January 26th, 2006

CaovillaRenè Caovilla has carved a niche as a consummate shoe sculptor of international standing (he’s collaborated with Valentino and Christian Dior). We love the way the heels in his evening collection appear to carve a sexy shape in our calve muscles. This ornate heel makes your gams look positively glamorous (and toned!). What a richly imaginative design and what motivation to keep your toes perfectly painted and primped through the rest of winter.

Bread and Butter Barcelona Update - Escribà

January 23rd, 2006

Escriba1Escriba5Well, it’s not our first time to Barcelona, and just as much as we like Cacao Sampaka we like Escriba. They’ve been around for 100 years and are generations of chocolate masters. What’s this got to do in Marie’s Closet you ask? Well, Christian Escribà (Antonio’s son) was looking for the perfect little gift that men could give the women they adore and developed what he called ‘Candy Glam Rings‘. Perfect pieces of art, all made out of sugar. They certainly don’t look like anything you’d expect to find in a candy store (when you are 7…) but are unique and unusual gems that look gorgeous… And if you are ever in doubt, a quick little taste and you are reminded that it’s all sugar…

Cologne Furniture Fair Update: MGX a preview of what’s going to come

January 23rd, 2006

MgxWe have presented Arik Levy’s beautiful work for MGX a while back and we are still so fascinated when we see it in use. At this years furniture fair the guys from MGX didn’t show us anything new but gave us a preview of what’s to come in Milano later in the year in the shape of this beautiful necklace hanger, that defies everything we have learned about manufacturing possibilities once again and has us excited to see what Milano will bring…

Cologne Furniture Fair Update: Freedom of Creation Chain-Mail Totes…

January 20th, 2006

FocbagFreedom of creation surprised us with their absolutely gorgeous lamps already at the Cologne Furniture Fair, but when they showed us their chain-mail totes, we were really amazed. The chain-mail is made without a single opening as everything is tooled digitally, it is available in black and silver and is currently only manufactured as a limited edition. But from the looks of these bags, and the stir they created on the fair, they should soon be available on a broader scale…
