So what if Halloween is over? Shu Uemura’s gloriously glam fake eyelashes remind us of the ridiculously long ones at Roberto Cavalli’s show last spring. To add a flair of drama to smoky night-time eyes, this is the perfect accessory. The lashes are made from real feathers in burnished jewel-tone shades. Even without the fancy getup, it’s pure couture.
Your ratty old t-shirts should never see the light of day, yet you’ve never really gotten around to tossing them in the trash have you? It recently occurred to us: why must anyone sacrifice comfort for style? Well, they shouldn’t and Le-Garcon embodies this philosophy like no one else with ultra comfy, ultra soft tops that look and feel worn in (but in the best way). The clean, classic looks offer a nice change for those who collect graphic tees.
Now, rings can be fun and dangly too, with Pianegonda’s blinged-out gold charm ring. A bevy of teeny Pianegonda-engraved rings are appended to chain-linked silver, with a chunky sterling base to wrap around your finger. If this isn’t eye candy, we don’t know what is.
Annick Goutal is the master perfumer whose fragrances embody the sophistication and complexity of today’s woman. Now, she peddles skincare alchemy too, and our favorite example is the Crème Splendide, a super-indulgent anti-aging moisturizer filled to the brim with vitamins A, B5, C, E and F—as well as calcium, magnesium, and refreshing Active Rose Sap. We’ve noticed it does a number on fine lines, but it also smells like heaven. Available from Barneys.
Dolls! With so many formal soirees to attend this season, it’s time to ditch the boring old evening clutch for a creation made entirely of seashells. We’re loving Judy Geib’s Polymita Picta bag, made of snail-like gems with hints of ocean blue, as well as her Argystoma Trachea, a glimmery alternative to the ubiquitous cloth clutch. Make sure you pair them with a simple, solid dress. These designs deserve the spotlight.
Julie Haus’ romantic metallic silk empire-waisted bubble dress reminds us of pantaloons, frills, ballroom gowns, and other perennial girlie stuff—but pared down to the very basics. Flattering ruching, delicate spaghetti straps, on-seam pockets that hit the hip, and a classic balloon bottom hem make this dress both luminous and light.
This is by far the scent of the year, in our humble opinion. Christian Dior’s Midnight Charm exudes the aroma of a mysterious Parisian perfume shop peddling a heady alchemy for all the senses. This limited edition fragrance is rife with seasonal treats, from frosted bergamot to fresh snow drop to cashmere musk and green holly leaves, but it’s an apt scent for seduction year-round.
Beauties, behold the 22K Gold Quail Collection. The pieces are individually designed and finely hand crafted by Laura Gibson, whose taste is impeccable. The inspiration? Gambel’s Quail, an indigenous bird found in her hometown, Southeastern Arizona. The bird takes only one mate a season and is symbolic of this classy, one-of-a-kind collection. Stunning color palettes and an exquisite 22K Gold Quail bead are the icing on these proverbial confections.
Treat your fabulous self to one of Sonal Adhikari’s beautiful beaded bags. These are hand-beaded (oh the labor involved!) with thousands of semi-precious stones such as garnet, turquoise, mother of pearl. Tote one of these under your arm or over your shoulder to give your ensemble an instant upgrade. They’re just the right size for all of your evening essentials.
