Picasso Ring
August 28th, 2008
Just as Picasso had his blue period, Lori Leavitt is having her chunky period, as evidenced by her latest rings and necklaces. Leavitt is noted for vintage-inspired pieces that have a slightly contemporary bent. The sterling silver Picasso ring features a Jasper set in 10 karat gold. FYI: A Jasper signifies “spotted stone” in French and is believed to bring confidence to those who wear it. Go ahead, take one for a whirl.
Cure for the Common Complexion
July 16th, 2008
Sit through the salad course at a dinner party thrown by San Francisco’s elite and the conversation inevitably turns to beauty (interior design is discussed over dessert). This is how we heard about Illuminata, owned by esthetician Cynthia Quan. Mellow and sage (not to mention a master masseuse), Quan offers European facials that cater to a hurried crowd, as well as those who love to linger. This time of year, when the heat makes our sweat glands work overtime, clients adore the back treatment which includes cleansing, exfoliation, steam, extractions, mask and a rub down. Two consecutive treatments in one month and you’re on your way to wearing that LBD that bares all.
Java needs our help!
May 31st, 2006
You know that we have a knack for all things fine and precious. But right now, after seeing what has happened in Java, we need to take a break from consumerism and shopping therapy for a moment and think about how we can help. We like smaller organizations vs the big slow corporations because they tend to be much more effective. Our favorite one is Fortunate Blessings – they have most recently been included in American Express’ list of preferred charitable groups – and they are putting together a trauma team as we speak and if you feel that they are the right group, you can donate whatever you think is appropriate via PayPal right here. Just enter their email address: java at fortunateblessings dot org.
Thank you!

That is, if you can even bring yourself to light them. Each candle is exquisitely packaged in large Victorian hatboxes, the candle held in a handcrafted glass vessel, nestled in the finest Burmese silk. Mysterious, dramatic and alluring, the seductive scents keep us coming back for more.
