Billow Pillow

November 30th, 2005

Billow-01
Intoto’s Billow Pillow is definitely not your average comfy couch companion. With its sensuous curves and luxurious ultrasuede construction, designer Joe Doucet’s aim is to take the ’sculpture off the shelf and onto the sofa’. His work is known for its wit and is designed with many layers of meaning and use. His objects reflect a sensuality and human quality much different than most pillows we come across. We love that the Billow Pillow is not only beautiful, but practical. It’s durable, stain-resistant, soft, and completely perfect for rest.

High Class Prefab

November 30th, 2005

Images LeftModern prefab is all the rage these days, with everyone trying to take advantage of the craze and grab their piece of the pie. Most of what we are seeing pop up these days aims towards the hopes of affordability, and falls short of architectural perfection. Marmol Radziner doesn’t feign the creation of a super affordable prefab that every middle class family will be able to afford, yet surprisingly it is more affordable than many of the other competitors. Despite its reasonable real world pricing, the several prefab models available from Marmol Radziner lack nothing in style. Taking advantage of their steel frame construction, all of the available models offer wide open floor plans with extensive windows. The interiors have been meticulously designed right down to the last doorknob. Currently only available in California, these modern marvels should begin to be available in other states starting spring of 2006.

Bubble Table Lamp

November 30th, 2005

Productshots Web Large 0607Ta-Bubble-020I1-WhchMany architects are more famous for their role as an industrial designer than they are for the buildings that they design, and Valerio Bottin is no exception. This Italian born architect left the world of designing commercial, residential and industrial buildings in 1993, and joined lighting manufacture Foscarini. Their union has proved to be a good one, and Bottin has gone on to design many wonderful light fixtures and table lamps. One of our favorite works by Bottin is this Bubble table Lamp. This lamp features several white polycarbonate diffusers suspended gracefully in the air. The core is chrome that has been shaped to perfection, ensuring every detail is just right. The result is nothing short of stunning.

Lima Vessels

Jeff Goodman started his schooling as a furniture designer, but fate it seems had another idea in mind for him. When he happened upon glass blowing, he was immediately intrigued by the process. He quickly found that he had a unique talent for working with this delicate medium, and dropped all his plans to design furniture. He has since gone on to get his Bachelors in Fine Arts, and create some wonderfully elegant blown glass pieces, such as the Lima Vessel collection shown above. His works are very organic in nature, and seem to embody the gentle motion of nature around us. His Lima collection remind us of delicate Egrets swooning for attention from a loved one, while other vessels have the look of some mystical sea plant gently twisting in the tides. These unique objects d’ arte are just the thing bring some style into your life.

Snow Table

Have you ever awaked in the morning to a soft blanket of snow covering your yard and smiled? Perhaps it is because there is something about the winter that appeals to the minimalist in all of us. Everything covered in a nice clean white veil, the hard edges of ice on the windows. With the Snow Table, designed by Nendo for Swedese you can bring some of that winter beauty into your home. This modular and expandable table is made by connecting a series of snowflake shaped white plywood sections together, and placing an appropriately sized pane of glass on top. We love the modular aspect of it that makes it possible to expand as necessary, or as desired. This is just the thing to go with your Christmas decor without having to compromise the style you love.

Lemonade Lounge Chair

November 29th, 2005

200511282155Another great product from the classic swedish furniture producer Swedese, the Lemonade Lounge chair was designed by British born designer Michael Young. It shares much of the organic shape of many molded plywood lounge chairs, and yet it stands above the crowd. This chair is no new kid on the block though, designed in 2002 the Lemonade Lounge Chair is on its way to becoming a classic design of the 21st century. Maybe it is the bling of the chrome base, or the subtle sexyness of the red upholstered top that catches my eye. Whatever it is, we sure wouldn’t mind sitting back and having a glass of fresh squeezed lemonade in this chair.

Mud Australia

Homeware
Mud Australia is a ceramic home ware design company founded by Shelley Simpson in 1994. All pieces have a strong delicate look with such crisp thin edges, matte exteriors and a slick gloss interior. Available in a wide range of natural colors and shapes, all pieces are unique and handmade in their Sydney studio from natural and non-toxic products. Their collection takes the modern possibilities of porcelain to a new level, through their range of plates, nested bowls, platters, vases and more they manage to “combine eggshell shapes with the durability, finesse and beauty of porcelain.”

Glass Bubble Lamp

November 28th, 2005

Glass-Lamp
Hand-blown and made in France, this gorgeous table lamp screams modern, hip, and luxe. The clear glass base and shade blend in with any space, yet gets noticed for its effortlessly chic glow. Perfect for post-dinner entertaining…when the wine is flowing and the best part of the conversations are just getting started. With the glow of a candle and the convenience of a lamp, we love the idea of grouping a few of these together and creating a cluster of shaped, glowing glass. From The Conran Shop.
