Crome lights

September 28th, 2007

TrepasIn copper, brass, and stainless steel Trepas, designed in 1966, can be positioned indefinitely while reflecting uniquely against each other. The Cartier ring’s refined distribution of three types of gold in integrated circles of; gold, red gold and white gold have ignited my interest for the tealight. Long I have been missing a holder for this universal and simple candle that could transform the living flame and provide a tinge of infinity. Combined in countless ways, the flames reflects and mirrors in the metals, brass, copper and stainless steel so generously that the “Aladdin’s Cave” find new life. Design: Peter Karpf Trepas is available either as Trepas six or Trepas nine with respectively 2 times 3 cups or 3 times 3 cups, both provide several possibilities for many combinations.

A Dreamy Chandelier

September 27th, 2007

CalliopeEleek’s Calliope Chandelier, made from sheets of glass arranged around a metal globe, is reminiscent of the film City of Lost Children in which every object feels organic and mechanical at the same time. We’re reminded of a flower in bloom, or perhaps an alien starseed blowing across the galaxy in search of fertile ground. We bet it would look stunning in the entryway of your mod manse.

Grapevine Art

September 25th, 2007

GrapevinewreathAs you start gearing up for the holidays, consider decking your halls with a darling wreath made from recycled grapevines. At the Wood Family Ranch in Napa Valley, pruned cuttings from Cabernet Sauvignon grapevines are gathered, stripped of leaves, and bundled into glorious arrangements. On the other hand, if it makes you sick to think about the holidays (who can blame you this early in the year?), consider a magazine rack created from grapevines, which you can use year-round.

Each piece of paper is individually crafted from some combination of recycled office paper, junk mail, grocery bags or grass cuttings. Even the water used in the paper-making process is recycled from the studio’s own dehumidifier and air conditioner whenever possible, and a portion of prep work is done by adults with developmental disabilities.
