Totally Sharp: The Unfed Shaving Lather Set

January 31st, 2006

Unfed1It’s so typical for us to get all worked up over such an impressive shave set. Unfed has improved the classic shaving lather with a moisture-rich formula containing a unique blend of essential oils that provide an immaculate, blemish-free shave. Tired of soulless plastic containers desecrating their morning routine, its designers created a copper container and badger hair brush to make the whole experience, well, an experience. Each set includes a handmade, hand-embroidered travel bag.

One of the premiere design hotels in Berlin, the Ku’damm 101, has chosen to refurnish all their 3107’s into rocking chairs. And it’s easy to see why: the vats add a layer of functional beauty to an already gorgeous chair, which fit perfectly with the soft fluid forms.

Behold the Feltfellow XS

January 27th, 2006

Pyk1Felt is fabulous, which makes Red Maloo laptop covers the must-have accessory of the season. But, judging by their popularity, you probably already knew that. We’re pleased to have met Patricia Yasmin Graf for the first time at the Furniture Fair in Cologne.

We were amazed by her ingenious bags made from super-soft industrial felt. Not a single staple is involved, nor the tiniest bit of glue or thread, yet somehow, the bags hold together perfectly. The small size (roughly 7” x 5”) is adorable and elegant in slate grey and chestnut brown.

What was in the box: One Feltfellow XS in grey and brown
Price: $55 / 45€

The Niftiest Accessory: iPod Nano Wallet

January 26th, 2006

Nanowallet1If we didn’t already have a collection of Nanos, we’d have to run out and buy one just to get some use out of this gorgeous wallet. This little baby holds all we’ll ever need: an abundance of cash, credit cards and, of course, our precious Nano.

These are the fundamentals for modern day folks. This elegantly designed full-grain leather case is impossibly small at 3.5″ x 2.5″, so it goes unnoticed. This is the perfect Valentine’s Day gift (the 14th is just around the corner, you know). Present it to the thoughtful lover who bought you that Michael Young watch for Christmas.

What was in the box: One pink iPod Nano case
Price: $25 / 29€

Dynamic Display Piece: Esque Water Drop Jug

January 25th, 2006

Esque F1Esque is what you get when two fabulous artists collide. In this case, those two artists happen to be Justin Parker, one of the top glass blowers in the country, and Andi Kovel, widely known for her work as a designer, glass blower and installation artist. This pair has been creating gorgeous glass pieces for rocker Lenny Kravitz and Robert Rauschenberg, as well as other high profile people.

This Water Drop Jug, a phenomenal centerpiece for any table, looks stunning in this combo of rich gold and chestnut brown (our favorite). When the light hits it just so, it changes from a soft and subtle hue to one that’s much more deep and intense. Kind of like us.

This great display of glass work is 9” high and 8” in diameter…

What was in the box: One Water Drop Jug
Price: $298 / 240€

Pulling the Silk and Suede Over Your Eyes: Meet Wink

January 24th, 2006

Wink Ankle Chair2Wink is such a charming name for a blindfold, and this supple suede creation is far more versatile than the average scarf. It’s made of more than three yards of pure, hand dyed silk, which softens with use. A bias cut provides more than enough comfort and just enough yield. Let’s explore its many personalities, shall we? Each side is designed to communicate your mood.

Reveal the universal snooze symbol (Z) for use as a sleep mask (or role playing, we suppose, if you’re into Zorro). Flip it over and drop your partner a subtle hint with the come-hither heart when you’re feeling like a love machine.

WeddingBells magazine declares this the perfect gift for bridesmaids. E! News and InTouch love it. And, well, needless to say, this suggestive accessory is a favorite C&M suggestion, as well. Four stunning color variations are available.

You’ll receive an e-mail allowing you to select your own:
Black mask with asphalt sash
Pink mask with peony sash
Black mask with azure sash
Chestnut mask with espresso sash

What was in the box:One silk sash and one suede blindfold
Price: $100 / 79€

The Bargain Bowl: An Alessi Imposter?

January 23rd, 2006

Fatcat ColorThis bowl certainly looks like an Alessi and it feels like one in terms of quality. But, by the looks of the price tag alone, an Alessi it is not. We’re giddy to find such a splendid-looking, multi-functional bowl that’s so inexpensive.

This one’s the ideal party companion, perfect for serving pre-dinner nibbles to hungry guests. You want more options from a bowl, you say? This will also look pretty sitting on your desk with your keys, stamps, pins or other trinkets inside. The beautifully surgical stainless steel is a treat and rubberized feet prevent it from moving all over the place.

What was in the box: One surgical stainless steel multi functional bowl with rubberized feet, approx. 1.9” high, 7.4” long and 3.7” wide.
Price: $25 / 29€

Mega Memory By Mimobots

January 19th, 2006

Galaxor2150-1Our forward-thinking pals at Mimobots have provided us with a dandy device that does the impossible: it convinces us that it’s time to move on from soulless black and silver memory sticks. This design goes by the name of Galaxor, though we like to call him our friendly little data fiend.

Feed the 2″ monster all of your essential data (tunes, pics, presentations, videos, etc.) and transport your files wherever you go. This is a lovely example of the greatness achieved when designer toys meet USB flash drives. Viola! A successful marriage of art and technology. Here’s a bit of background info: The USA-made Galaxor was designed by upcoming artist Yahid “Serial Killer” Rodriguez in Mexico. For your listening pleasure, it’s loaded with a mix of fresh tracks produced or remixed by DB & Stakka (many are still unreleased).

Galaxor comes in 512MB and is produced in limited quantities. This is a hi-speed USB 2.0 that’s compatible with both Windows and Mac.

What was in the box: 512MB Galaxor Memorystick
Price: $89.95 / 75€

Leon Pfeiffer’s Sushi board

January 18th, 2006

Sushi1150-1We all know of the healthy qualities of sushi, let’s not even mention the wonderful taste sensations and the visually stunning appearances. But in combination with Leon Pfeiffer’s gorgeous and ingenious Sushi Board, these qualities really show off.

The Sushi Tray - made of brushed stainless steel - wraps around two wooden plates and when it comes time to show off it’s true qualities, the wooden boards simply extend and the intricately designed grooves for chopsticks and choyu (you’re not getting that cheap fake soy sauce now are you?) become visible.

And if you are not into sushi, no probs, cheese, hors d’euvres or fruit go equally well with the stunning presentation.

Dimensions:
Stainless Tray: 9 3/4″ x 9 3/4″
Wood Plates: 9 3/4″ x 5 1/8″

What was in the box: 2 sets of rosewood chopsticks, 2 food-safe Rubberwood plates and the stainless steel tray.
