Cableyoyo – POP Prelaunch

March 27th, 2006

Pop1Our first PreLaunch!

This device finally ends the search for a working solution to the - what am I supposed to do with my earphones – dilemma.

Developed by the great guys over at Bluelounge, who already brought us the phenomenal Cableyoyo, the POP is the ideal companion to every iPod, Discman, cellphone or any other device you use with headphones.

It’s a clever little suction cup with a wrapping and clipping part (you wrap your cords and clip your headphones) that simply sticks to every flat surface – like the back of every iPod – without leaving a trace… Don’t have a flat surface? No worries, a self adhesive surface comes with the POP, so you can stick that to your iPod cover and the POP onto the surface. A clip also comes with it so you can clip it onto – well, pretty much anything you want…

It also comes with a series of great stickers that you can put onto the POP and exchange them at your leisure. All in all, this is our tech accessories highlight of Spring!

What was in the box: 1 POP, with accessories (stickers, clip, surface) 1.6″x2.12″x0.5″
Price: $10 / 10€

Nooka - A Timeless Trend

March 24th, 2006

Zoo VMeet Nooka, brainchild of artist/designer, Matthew Waldman. In 1997 he had a flash-back while staring at a large wall clock in a London hotel. Apparently the experience transported him back to his first grade math class and he was struck by the limited options in time display. Like most great minds of this time, he sketched his innovative ideas on a napkin and brought them back to New York as quick as the hands of time would take him.

Nooka watches offer an intuitive way to view time using linear and graphic representation. The visual mass increases as time passes, giving weight to an ephemeral and abstract concept. Once you’re used to this new visual paradigm, you may never go back to standard analog and digital time displays for the wrist.

And you know, time flies when it looks this good.

What was in the box: Your choice of either the Nooka ZOO-V or ZOT-V or ZEN-V or ZEN-H with a black leather bracelet.
Price: $250 / 225€

Teastick - Ultimate Tea Time

March 23rd, 2006

Teastick1-2If you’re a profound lover of fine teas, you’ve probably been feeling a bit neglected lately, what with so few places to delight in the exquisite art. Wouldn’t it be easier to become a coffee aficionado—the type who can get a fix at any ubiquitous coffee joint? In a word, yes. But despite their magnificent seeded muffins, Starbucks will always elicit a groan from the truest tea enthusiast who wants more than a packaged tea bag (the equivalent of instant coffee).
Gamil brings good news. They designed a tantalizing Teastick which you may recall from SDJ a little over a month ago (plenty of you have sent us e-mails requesting one of your own). This totally unique utensil allows you to scoop your favorite loose tea, slide it into your beloved teacup and, as the subtle flavors slowly darken the water, savor the marvelous fragrances released by fresh leaves. We’ll say it once more, with passion: fresh leaves. Since it’s so easy to use, the Teastick is the perfect office companion. When you’re done, slide it open again, empty the leaves and go for round two. This is tea lover’s bliss—this time around, we sell them as singles.

What was in the box: 1 Teastick
Price: $18 / 20€

Taste of Talking - Spice Up Your Pantry

March 20th, 2006

TastoftalkingblackWhat would we do without the insanely cool products from the Netherlands—particularly those of Henk Stallinga who came up with these salt and pepper shakers resembling traditional ear and mouth pieces from the telephones of yore.

Actually, they don’t merely resemble them: they really are (clean) pieces taken from phones. And they’re mounted on the indicators of the original Morris Mini. Quite the unique combination of elements. The top is beautiful ivory and the base is transparent white. These are another alluring feature in the MoMA collection. What can we say? We love functional objets d’art.

What was in the box: 1 salt and 1 pepper shaker
Price: $22 / 22€

The Sexiest Toothbrush on Earth

March 20th, 2006

Ohso1-1Traveling always requires packing a toothbrush, but how many good looking, functional and stylish examples of this one essential product have you ever seen?

This brand new idea is just plain gorgeous looking – a sleek silver tube of modern engineering that feels like a high tech miniature flashlight. But the beauty lies within: the toothpaste is self-dispensing. Functioning like a good fountain pen, The Ohso creates a vacuum that draws the toothpaste from the provided tube into the handle. A little twist dispenses it onto the bristles, and when you’re done, just pop the lid back on and you’re ready to go.

Now all you need to do is choose a place for that holiday getaway…

What was in the box: One silver, matt finish Ohso, one white replacement brush, small toothpaste.
Price: $20 / 25€
