3 Guns Vase

July 31st, 2006

3GunsvaseWhether you are into the hype or not, is up to you. We just like the idea of the vase and are amused by the story behind it.
First some facts before we look at the dirt. Three guns joined together to form a very stable base act as a vase – think peace movement in the seventies. Lilies in gun barrels and so on… Very simple in glazed porcelain, it makes quite an impression.
Now for the dirt: Philippe Starck and Moss chose to launch the Starck Gun Lamp during New York’s Design Week a whole year after the Three Gun Vase had its debut in the very same city. And the grand unveiling of the Starck Lamps at Moss amid a hail of hype and gold leaf and lots of talk attracted comparisons from the likes of the New York Times!
In our opinion: Nothing to write home about, well done Sam and Jude…
Color: White
Size: 7.6″ x 7.6″ x 7.1″ (19,5 x 19,5 x 18,2 cm)

Jimi Wallet

July 28th, 2006

The Jimi Wallet StackThis wonderful contraption is billed as ‘the wallet for people who hate wallets’ and it comes pretty close. It is incredibly compact, water resistant and – if you want it to be –colorful.
It holds just the essentials, four credit cards on the one side and a few bills and an ID or another card in the detachable money clip on the other side. Because of its focus on the essentials it actually fits comfortably in your front pocket without really showing…
But there’s more! It’s made out of 100% recycled materials and 1% of the Jimi’s revenue is invested into environmental causes – so it makes you feel good about the environment as well…
And here’s another goodie: we got a great offer from the guys who designed the Jimi and you can buy two Jimi’s for $26 instead of the usual retail price of $30 here.
Color: Aqua; Clear; Safety Orange; Smoke (Gray); Stealth (Black)
Size: 4.25” x 2.6” x .5” (11 x 6,5 x 1 cm)
Price: $14 / 14€

Coathook #1

July 25th, 2006

Coathook BlackWhat on first sight might look like an arbitrary mesh of plastic coated metal wire, that causes one to hesitate in trusting its functionality, reveals a well balanced construction after closer inspection. Not just does it offer secure rest for any object placed upon it, it also explores complexity and the wire’s linear nature. This way, a domestic object that is normally taken for granted, is scrutinized for hidden qualities that are waiting to be exposed. A meeting point between simplicity, efficiency and sophistication.
Whether you choose the black or the white version, there is always the intriguing temptation to observe the shadow cast, rather than ’spoil’ the experience by actually placing clothes on it…
Color: Black, White
Size: 10″ x 15″ x 9″ (25×38x23 cm)
Price: $70 / 55€

FU*K LIMITED

July 24th, 2006

Jimmyjane Citizencitizen VibratorYou know that we just love precious metals - they always enhance the overall quality of virtually any item. We’ve got a Little Something extra for you today – the new “FU*K LIMITED” will definitely raise the frequency of every woman’s sensual adventures.
Only 500 of these limited edition vibrators are out there in 24K gold and stainless steel – launched in May in conjunction with Design Week and ICFF they represent the thinking of Jimmy Jane CEO and creative director Ethan Imboden and CITIZEN:Citizen CoFounder Philip Wood. They have combined their expertise in exquisite design and luxurious sexual products and say the etched words “Fuck Design” can be interpreted as either sarcastic – do the words denounce a creative discipline - or celebratory – the objects raison d’étre. Regardless of how you perceive it, you’ll want to experiment more in the arts after you try this 5.25″ (13,5 cm) long, 0.67″ (2 cm) diameter work of genius.
Sleek, silent and waterproof, this steel vibrator is sheer decadence; and according to W magazine, Esquire, and Women’s Wear Daily: Young Hollywood’s favorite new accessory. According to Ethan, ‘discretion was an important aspect of the original design of the Little Something … with this etching, we bring the provocation back to the surface…’
Why steel? Well, its non-porous surface holds different temperatures making it perfect for those thrill-seeking souls who like to experiment. The vibrator’s shaft is tuned to a virtually silent frequency designed to provide that deep, resonant sensation we all love. Since it’s completely waterproof, you can take it in the tub, the pool, or chill it in the fridge.
With the temps we have these days, probably a smart thing to do…
Color: Steel
Size: 5.25″ (13,5 cm)
Price: $275 / 220€

Shaken - 5 very funny dice…

July 20th, 2006

Shaken1We were feeling a little playful the other day and after a few rounds of dice paired with a couple rounds of cocktails, the dice were starting to look odd and we lost control over the game and called it quits.
Thanks to the quirky guys over at Atypyk, we can now relive that exact same moment, this time round without any substance abuse though. We just wonder whether it will be just as much fun…

Key Organizer

July 19th, 2006

Ks Sl8 2Amazing what wonders a little Velcro can do… This might solve the common ‘honey, any idea where I put the …key’ issue.
A very simple and very cute organizer for all the keys you have at home. Color coded Velcro and the appropriate spots on either silver or white metal make for a very straight forward and very graphic approach to keeping your keys in one place.
Lovely, especially for those of us with a tendency to ‘loose’ keys…
Size: 10″ x 8″ (26×21 cm)
Price: $60 / 49€

Sun Jar

July 18th, 2006

Sun Jar NightPerfect for summer – the sun jar. Another great idea by Tobi Wong, one of our favorite designers, this jar stores the sun light. No kidding, it really does…
Have it sit in the sun during the day and see it radiate at night. All made possible by modern technology – some LED’s, a solar panel and some ingenious thinking. The kind of thinking Tobi is famous for.
This is a wonderful effect and the sandblasted glass makes it seem as if it truly emits warm sun light. It is a great little idea for an outdoor summer dinner, where you have the jars scattered around the table, or an evening at the beach where they will provide just the right amount of light, or as garden illumination, just position them at strategic points in your garden or rooftop terrace or balcony – they work equally well in either location.
So, what are you waiting for? Let’s go and catch some sun, there’s plenty of it out there right now, and savor it during the evening…
Size: 4″ x 4″ x 6″ (10×10x16 cm)
Price: $38 / 29€
