Chanel Pirate Matches

April 27th, 2007

Chanel Pirate MatchesOur dear friends at Citizen:Citizen have fabulous products – that’s nothing new. And until today you could easily get them. Recently though they received a cease and desist from the company with the Golden Arches for their Coke Spon #2, which in turn caused the eponymous product to skyrocket in price – if you can get it at all. Well today we have been told, the company’s famed Playboy Swizzlestick was struck by the same fate.
Yup, no more gold dipped Swizzlesticks. Now we brought you the Coke Spoon #1 pendant a couple days back, that’s just another item waiting to disappear, so we thought that we would give you the opportunity to purchase the only item left that hasn’t been scrutinized – yet. The Chanel Pirate matches, Tobi Wong and Ju$t Another Rich Kid have cooperated yet again on a fab idea which comes in a pack of 10 and we have made sure that we have enough in stock to get them out to you before those too disappear from the face of this world…
So hurry, run, get to the computer and get them before they are forever gone…
Price: $30 / 30€

Tooth Pendant

April 26th, 2007

Atypyk ToothThis is definitely one of our most requested products in the last couple weeks, so here it is again, just for all of you who missed it the last time around:
Our friends at Atypyk always have the quirkiest ideas, this one here is brand spanking new and made us chuckle when we first saw it…
It’s pretty straight forward actually. A substantial tooth, dipped in gold or silver to add to your favorite chain. What more shall we say? Well maybe only that the pendant is 1.2″ x 0.8″ in size (3 x 1 cm), but other than that it’s pretty straight forward….
Price: $110 / 80€

Yes, your eyes aren’t tricking you, we are talking about the stuff mostly found on the loo that’s rarely if ever a conversation topic… And why are we bringing this topic up? Well just to let you know that Richard Hutton’s Loo Chair is one fabulous contraption that takes care of all those spare rolls that you are currently hiding under your sink.
You can obviously continue hiding them, but in case you are thinking about an alternative, this would be a really nice way to display them…

Solitaire Dish

April 24th, 2007

SolitaireOk, so you are planning the next party, get-together or cocktail eve and are thinking about the proper presentation for the nibbles. Your Limoges tableware is way too elegant and formal, plastic is out of the question and the pottery you brought from Asia isn’t really appropriate either.
Along comes one of our favorite Thorsten Van Elten pieces, that has been around for quite some time already but is most definitely not represented well enough in our opinion: it’s a traditional solitaire board made out of cream colored ceramic , at roughly 8″ x 8″ x 1.5″ or 20×20x4 cm perfectly sized for any small nibbles you might want to have sitting next to your sofa or on your coffee table. Why is it fun? Just because it’s a wonderful way to start a conversation, a great treat while you are waiting for your drinks, a lot of fun when the evening has moved on and your concentration isn’t on par anymore or when you are the first and feel a little lost and it’s a great excuse to finish all those delicious stuffed olives, or thai meatballs, or Maltesers, or, or, or the options are endless…
Price: $45 / 35€

Bye Bye Fly

April 23rd, 2007

Byebye Fly MapMilan in April, usually rainy and cold. This year: gorgeous with temperatures easy around 26° it has been a fabulous week. Fabulous new products, great parties and the usual buzz that’s part of the Saloni. Wednesday evening brought us to our new friend Nicoletta – heir to the Rossana Orlandi conceptstore – and her new line of products presented alongside of Hulgers brand new limited edition pieces. And whilst there are many pieces that we are looking at bring into our curated section, we wanted to bring you a piece of Milan as well.
This obvious death threat to all things buzzing around us made us smile when we first saw it on the cover of famed Abitare magazine, We were even happier when we found out that it is a piece of Nicoletta’s new products… So what’s left to say, nothing really, it’s plastic, made in Italy, and the target area is – you guessed it – the street map of Milan! That’s why we had to smile…
Oh – and forgive us for the image quality, these were taken at the party, so we could get them to you before anybody else could…

Color: Blue, Green, Orange, Violet, White
Price: $15 / 15€

Designchain

April 20th, 2007

DesignchainWe love brilliant and simple ideas and this one is a particularly good one, and what we really like is when we are the first to bring a product to the market, as it is the case with the Designchain that has just been introduced earlier this year…
Designed by New Zealander Alan Hucks, the Designchain is an effortlessly stylish, multi functional storage system based on a bicycle or motorcycle chain. It is made from crystal clear polycarbonate and is linked together to form a series of tubes that will hold anything from wine to flowers, magazines to utensils, remotes to mobile phones.
It moves like a bike chain and can be shaped into a multitude of configurations.
The clear polycarbonate means you can see the contents from anywhere and it’s impact strength makes it virtually indestructible. The Designchain can be mounted as a sculptural shelving solution, stacked on top of each other horizontally, stood up and used vetically or even split up into smaller units. Because of it’s modular construction it can be added to or ‘grown’ by attaching it to another designchain.
Whether you use it in the kitchen, the bathroom, your lounge, your bedroom or your dining room is left up to you, but just the mere fact that it is so versatile gets us really excited…
Price: $190 / 190€

Good China Bad China

April 19th, 2007

Goodchina BadchinaAfter yesterdays Beefcake/Cheesecake controversy, we thought we’d bring you another product that has two options to it.
We all know - at least of - the seven sins. Apparently they are deadly, though we don’t exactly know how deadly they really are, but in any case, todays Soupe offers the seven sins up in the most elegant english script in rich blue on elegant bone china dinner plates (12″ or 30cm diameter). But to make it a fun evening, their contrary virtues (derived from an epic poem called ‘The Psychomachia’ written by the Christian poet Prudentius around 410 bc) come in the same box, allowing you to place the plates according to your guests. The thinking goes that the practice of the 7 virtues would protect the soul against the dark side - the temptation toward the seven deadly sins. Now the question is: Who gets which plate?
Price: $48 / 40€

Peepshow

April 18th, 2007

PeepshowOk, so we don’t really do shots here at the C&M HQ – though we are just developing our own shotglasses with Alissia MT, but that’s top secret so we can’t go there – and definitely not during work hours, but last week we had a fun night here working away and a good friend of ours pulled out these brand new glasses and filled them up with what turned out to be a delicious Vodka from France. So we did the shots and – pow – what was that? The plain and simple glasses turned into a peepshow once you emptied them out…
Find out for yourself, they are pretty damn funny and come in a set of four… Hehehe, definitely on the tacky side, but very funny…
Color: Beefcake or Cheesecake
Price: $20 / 20€

Grandpa Clock

April 17th, 2007

Grandpa1The mere thought of a grandpa clock makes us all quiver in shock, so why would we bring you the like as a SDJ? Well, for starters, it’s not a Grandpa Clock, it is a print of a Grandpa Clock and at roughly 5 feet tall a pretty big print if we may say so. So now the question is: why would we bring you a 5 feet tall print of a Grandpa Clock? Well easy, because the witty brains at Jansen&Co in the Netherlands have added a small tiny clock exactly behind the face of the Grandpa Clock, making it a fully functional one with the appropriate hands and all.
Now while the overall aesthtic of a Grandpa Clock still makes us cringe, this unique interpretation works really well and looks pretty damn cool as you can see from the pictures… Approved!
Price: $70 / 60€
