Richard Lawson’s 9-Volt Light

August 3rd, 2007

9V RowIf you placed an order a couple weeks ago, then you will be holding Richard Lawson’s wonderful lamp in your hands already. If you didn’t – well here’s your chance, they are here and just waiting to be picked up by you!
When we first saw Richard Lawson’s 9-Volt light in London at 100% Design last year it was such a beautiful, elegant and simple idea that we were instantly convinced. Unfortunately–as it was part of a competition for Mathmos–it wasn’t chosen for production, as it wasn’t the winner of the competition… Fortunately though we weren’t the only ones to write about it and so the word spread and emails kept pouring in, convincing Mathmos, that this was a great idea and that it should go into production.
Well here it is–well not quite, because this is the prelaunch–but the product will actually ship in approximately 10 days (we have that confirmed from the guys in the UK), and knowing you, you want to be amongst the first to put your hands on this little goodie.
In case you missed all the post that were popping up left right and center a couple months ago, here’s a quick explanation for a product that doesn’t need much explaining: Think of it as an exact replica of a 9-Volt battery made out of high powered LED’s. All you do is plug it onto the before-mentioned 9-Volt battery and voila, you have a modern day version of a candle. There are so many usage occasions, we can’t even start: night lights, traveling, camping (yeah, that’s us), garden parties, rooftop parties, romantic dinners for technophiles, there’s plenty of fun stuff you can do with them and we are positive you can think of a few yourself…
Now as you can see from the images, the 9V lights are white when they are off and red or blue when they are on. The original white version is still in the works and unfortunately won’t be ready for some time. We like it nevertheless and are happy to see Richard Lawson’s wonderful idea in the market now!
Color: Blue, Red
Price: $25 / 25€

Swarovski Bling Band Aid

August 2nd, 2007

Blog Soupe Du Jour Wp-Content Comm RedWe presented this unusual accessory about a year ago when it was just developed and first test production had just started. Now it’s done, they are in full blown production mode and we still think they are utterly funny: Blinged out band aids with 4 Swarovski crystals available in four crisp colors and one sweet little tin. Designed by talented Fabian Seibert, who brought us the Miss Lacey bracelets amongst other goodies.
But don’t worry, you don’t need to have bruises or cuts that you would cover up! Just throw one of these sweet little band-aids on your shoulder and be certain to catch more than just a glance cruising through the bars and clubs…
They come in a pack of three in a sterile white or a traditional tan band-aid – if you have a latex allergy, be sure to opt for the white one…
Colors: Pink, Red, Turquoise, White
Versions: Tan Band Aid, White Band Aid
Price: $15 / 10€

Hand Soap

August 1st, 2007

Handsoap 3Forgive us for asking, but what type of hand soap is in your bathroom? Do you opt for the convenient yet so unsophisticated pump? Or are you more the French lavender soap person? Or do you prefer a simple and straightforward bar of plain whatever you can get your hands on?
Well here’s a little something for you: How about some Hand Soap? Yes we know, that’s a category description, but in this case it’s actually the product description as well. It’s soap shaped like little hands. And it’s handmade – now isn’t that a hoot? The size of each varies between 1/2″ and 2″ (1,5 - 5 cm) and you’ll get roughly 100 grams of soap – which should be around 10 pieces. The soap is made out of goat’s milk (very good for soft skin…), vegetable glycerin and a light clean subtle scent which is really quite lovely. They all come in a pretty bag and are perfect as a present…
Oh and did we mention that they are an instant conversation starter? We did now…
Price: $20 / 20€
