Druggist Jars by Jonathan Adler

March 31st, 2008

All JarsHow can you not love Jonathan Adler? His whole approach to interior design is lovely and whimsical and fun and we obviously love it. He presented these wonderful apothecary jars in February in New York and we were immediately in love with them – and how can you not be?
This is the ‘Love jar’ of his series of four different jars evoking a time long gone, when you’d find them in an apothecary, but this time they don’t contain remedies that are hard to find these days, this time they hold Anger (11″ high - 28 cm) or Joy (9.5″ high - 24 cm) or Love (8″ high - 20 cm) or alternatively Hate (6.75″ high - 17 cm) – at least that’s what it says on them, what you put in them is entirely up to you, but we could make some recommendations if you want…
Made of beautiful translucent glazed porcelain, they are just plain gorgeous. This is obviously the set of all four, but if you are looking for the singles, then click here for the Anger Jar, here for the Love jar, here for the Joy jar and here for the Hate Jar.
Lovely, very lovely…

Park Planters

March 28th, 2008

FlasherOK, so you live in the city, and there’s a park in the neighborhood and every once in a while you take a stroll. And because your park is no different than any other park in any other metropolitan city, it attracts all kinds of people. Some normal, like you, some weird, and some, well, let’s just not go there now…
But actually, that’s exactly where Tristan Zimmermann, designer extraordinaire went. Drawing inspiration from the bonsai, the Park Planters were created to elevate the common household plant to the status of full grown tree. The potted plant becomes the backdrop for an urban park scene. This is the first in a series of two different park scenes investigating the dark side of the park, the stuff that happens when the sun goes down and you’re not supposed to play in the park any more. You’ll find a lost salesman, a flasher a gay couple and a mugger, with no two scenes being alike ensuring the autonomy of each piece. Beautifully crafted out of porcelain each set contains a plate, the planter base and two parts of the lid, one blank and one with the scene of your choice.
The entire planter is 6.5″ high and 6.5″ x 6.5″ wide (at the top) - 16,5 x 16,5 x 16,5 cm - and made out of off white porcelain. Get all 4 and recreate your local park in your apartment.
Price: $100 / 65€

Mighty Tags

March 26th, 2008

Tags2If you are anything like us, then you’ve had enough of the winter months and are so ready for a Spring getaway!
If we may interrupt that thought of the beach cabana for a second, we would like to introduce you to our current favorite luggage tags. Luggage tags are essential these days with the ubiquitous black trolley as the preeminent carrying device of choice. And it would feel awkward - to say the least - to spend the day in somebody else’s bikini, no? In any case, the Mighty Tags are the latest and greatest by Terence Kelleman of Dynomighty Design.
Made out of the super strong micro fiber Tyvek, their incredible strength will stand up to the toughest use because thousands of super fine plastic fibers arranged in random patterns make it virtually impossible to tear. But, they are also environmentally responsible, with 25% of their composition coming from recycled mild and water containers. And being Grade 2 recyclable, they are commonly accepted in most recycling programs.
With all that good info, the only quest left is to chose a design. There are 10 tags per box, and given the fact that they last so long, you probably won’t need another tag, ever…
Colors: Air Mail, Fragile, That’s Mine, Grafitti, Translation, Passport, Vacation, Heavy
Price: $12 / 9€

Get Cosy

March 24th, 2008

Get Cosy BordeauxWe do realize that it’s not quite summer everywhere; in some places it’s not even spring yet and for all those cold corners of the world, here’s a shout out to you and a products that should be right up your alley!
The Get Cosy pillow by Berlin based Bombdesign is the perfect antidote for cold and lonely evenings. For one it is super soft (a perfect blend of Wool and Cashmere), then it’s super big (a hefty 65×65 cm or 25″x25″), but the kicker here comes in shape of two built in gloves inviting you to slip your arms into it and hug the pillow. Sounds funny? Trust us, it’s actually quite nice and within minutes you are very warm.
So if you are in need of some hugging, or live in a part of the world that’s still covered in snow, this might be just what you are looking for.
Colors: Bordeaux with Coral accents, Sand with Chocolate accents
Price: $100 / 68€

Sheep Pillow

March 21st, 2008

Sheep PillowToday’s Soupe might not be what you’d expect from us, but trust us, if you have anyone in your family or within your friends with kids, then this is the next gift you have to get. We saw this Sheep Pillow a few weeks back in Frankfurt and every kid basically started drooling. Worse still, once they held it, they didn’t want to let it go anymore and it was true across the board, whether the little tots were 3 or 7, it was an absolutely brilliant sight to see!
And it makes absolute sense; it is super soft and super cute, think about it, a pillow shaped like a little lamb? Is there anything with a higher cuteness level? Well, at least not for us at the moment, and once you give it to the little ones around you, you’ll see what we mean, absolutely brilliant, like a magnet! And at 30 x 30 cm (12 x 12″) just the perfect size for the little ones!
Happy Easter!
Price: $75 / 48€

Alphabetical Paperclips

March 20th, 2008

Paperclip 1This was one of your favorite products last year and just before the holidays it went out of production. Yeah, great timing! But it’s finally back in production and ready to go! In case you are not familiar with them, here’s the formal introduction: Stephen Reed showed them to us at 100% Design in London last September - Alphabetized paperclips. At first, we were thinking: OK – and now what? But then when we started playing with them the genius dawned on us: Whether you want to organize certain things alphabetically or just want to prioritize – always a fun task - or turn your Moleskin into an alphabetized notebook. Or if you are into lists and want to have organized lists or if you just want to fool your fellow people and seem as if you are all organized.
As if that would ever happen…
Price: $18 / 13€

I’m Not A Papercup – PRESALE

March 19th, 2008

Iamnota Papercup1Now here’s a product that we completely forgot and had to be reminded of by the dear Andy at AplusR (by the way, his new store in Venice Beach is a must for everybody in LA!, go check it out when you are in the neighborhood) but back to the topic:
‘I’m Not A Papercup’ doesn’t really need any explanation now, does it? It’s the ubiquitous coffee mug that we have most likely all had in our hands, but this time it is made of double walled porcelain and the plastic lid is replaced by reusable silicone. So much fun!
Now, the first batch was shipped in February and it was immediately sold out, hence the presale. We want to make sure that it’s available when it gets in towards the last third of April, so hurry, get your order in quickly… Oh right, dimensions: 3.5″ (9 cm) diameter; 6″ (15 cm) tall
Price: $20 / 18€

Nekko Single Flower Vase

March 18th, 2008

BaseOh my, when we first saw this gorgeous little vase we had to get half a dozen so we could put them up in the most fun ways we could imagine and by now we have more than a dozen of them sitting around here in the HQ.
What are they? Well, they are a vase for one flower, playing with the whole vase notion that suddenly looks like it’s a plant with roots. Super soft silicone rubber makes it super soft to touch and the colors are so nice as well!
Simply one of our favorite small vases of recent years! Oh, almost forgot the size info: 4.75″ x 4.75″ x 1.5″ or 12 x 12 x 4 cm if you prefer it easy ;)
Colors: Brown, Turquoise, Violet, White
Price: $24 / 22€
