Paul Smith’s Floral

September 28th, 2005

Paul Smith FloralLast week – during London’s fashion week and 100% design – Paul Smith launched “Floral”, his fourth Women’s fragrance. And guess what… Marie went to see this new seductive sent while in London. For the time being Floral is only available in the UK – exclusively at Harrods – or in Paul’s Online-Shop. Floral subtly distils the notes of an extraordinarily well-balanced bouquet. The fragrance embraces Paul’s ability to work with any element and give it a sense of individuality and irony.

The key notes are based around Water Lily, citrus extracts and fresh-picked Ginger. Its heart is composed of a most unique blend of white flowers, Magnolia, Orchid and Osmanthus Blossom whilst the base-notes resonate with the very material presence of Musk and Amber, forming a studied harmony with Exotic Wood essences and Tonka Beans.

The Floral packaging emphasizes the colorful yet simple signature of Paul Smith design: Round metal case and white lacquered opaque bottle… Pink for the signature and lip of the bottle, translucent yellow for the pump and orange for the cap associate with a very ‘Psycodelic’ logo.

Equalize This…

September 26th, 2005

Bored with the normal way of checking your time? Well, try on this monster for size… A gorgeous high polished time piece with an absolutely unique way of presenting the time: The row of lights is pushed from bottom to top and then flows back in a equalizer effect until all the lights with the exception of the seconds disappear, but after 5 seconds, those are gone as well, just to have the whole show start over again… But it’s not just the looks that are compelling, the technology is based on a single LED, rather than the traditional LED watches, so the energy needed is minimal… Where, you ask? Tokioflash!

Honey, Where Are My Keys?

September 25th, 2005

Brasil - 1-1
Keychains? I know, nasty topic, not much out there that gets you started writing postcards to those forgotten at home… Don’t even get me started on where one forgets them – where did I put them last night, hmmmm… But along comes a tiny company called Jeriloa Design do Brasil and brings us a collection of wonderfully sweet chains in a variety of colors, meanings and wonderful little charms attached to them. Whimsically beautiful and not just l’art pour l’art, but as I said, they all have a special symbolic meaning in the brazilian culture supposed to bring: good luck, protection, money and obviously love – now that’s something we could all need more of…

The Postman Always Rings Twice!

Gg&L-1

When was the last time your bag came in Plum with Avocado accents? Well, let me say that the choice of color is not the only innovative approach that George, Gina & Lucy take, when it comes to their new line of bags!
16 different styles with 13 different color combinations leave for a lot of room when it comes to experimenting… but the definite winner are the bag’s names. ‘Bakerboy’ or ‘Her Mess’ are just two of the truly wonderful names that have been created here for an extremely imaginative range…

Speck iPod nano Cases

September 23rd, 2005

By now we are all coming to grips with just how amazing Apple’s latest edition to the iPod family really is. Flash memory has brought us an ‘impossibly small’ device, that holds up to 1,000 songs. So far in our nano-testing we’ve found the battery life to be incredible, the screen resolution to be gorgeous, and the portability/size to be incomparable with any other MP3 player on the market– it’s a real gem! So much of a gem, that it seems to scratch, smudge, and be victim to every single little finger print. Luckily though, Speck Products released a handful of new iPod nano cases that will be ready for shipping any day now. Check the new cases out, and protect your new favorite gadget!
