Dutchtub
March 31st, 2006
The dutch are a wonderful nation, they have brought us phenomenal painters, great cheese, tulips, and a couple other goodies, and most recently: The Dutchtub. We saw this in Cologne already and were amused by the buzz it created, well now – in preparation for the Salone in Milan – we took a more thorough look at it and came to the conclusion, this is pretty cool. A handmade and numbered polyester tub, with a stainless steel tubing system – basically a fireplace – to heat the water – and that’s it, you have your portable tub to take along. It hooks up to a normal hose and you are done… Check out the gallery on their page, some pretty nice images…
Leather Suit
March 30th, 2006
We like the guys over at Vaja and todays goodie is really quite amazing. The have created a beautiful leather suit – as they call it – for the BeoSound 2 that looks really gorgeous, but then again, if you have a gorgeous piece to work with, what could go wrong. Check out all the different leathers and ways to personalize the beauty here.
Pitgreen
March 30th, 2006
We are no fans of games here at C&M – you know, the kind of games you play inside, on a table… But this little thingy made us all stop working for half a day not too long ago. It’s called the Pitgreen, was developed by 3 designers in Germany and is taking Europe by storm. What do we mean by ‘by storm’? Well a designers golf tournament will be held at the Salone in Milan next week (we’ll be there and report back) followed by 100% Design in London and Tokyo and we are currently in talks here in the US so we can plan something for the end of the season. Nevertheless, this little guy comes with various clubs, half a dozen balls and a tiny little bag as well – and if you are not into playing the real thing, get 3 of your buddies together and start teeing of on your desk – you wont stop for at least an hour or two. It also comes in a limited edition in black – and you will soon be able to purchase it just here at yours truly. See some funny videos here.

Marimekko Mice
March 28th, 2006
We seem to like Marimkko more and more these days. They’ve been around forever, but we literally find more wonderful stuff every day. Today we got a hold of a whole array of mice they have designed apparently last year, but the launch completely passed us by. Unfortunately it’s all in Japanese, but they sure are gorgeous and we hope to find out more soon. If you are more into mouse pads, check out these here, they are pretty nice and again, very uniquely Marimekko style.
Grocery Tote
March 27th, 2006
Paper or plastic? Neither! Who needs materials that rip or harm the environment when you could have a reusable grocery bag that’s just as fabulous as all your fresh goods inside? That’s the whole point behind the Grocery Tote by Lotta Jansdotter. This 10” by 16” bag is made of cotton and includes a lining. It’s hand washable and available in three trendy colors with a simple make-a-wish dandelion bud design.
Fingerglueck

Lucky Fingers so to speak… Iris Merkle is known for a range of different jewelry designs – but we were really amazed by her Tube Rings (Tubenringe on her site which is only in German). She takes tubes – in all colors you can imagine – in compresses them, so they turn into very unique rings. Not quite what you would do with your toothpaste, but with very high precision, encased in sterling silver and as we said, in an abundant array of colors… See it all here.

Felt is big in Europe and for all the right reasons! This is a great little bag we found the other day, that combines the understated elegance of the Red Maloo bags and adds a whole level of smart thinking. Smart velcro closures allow for size and depth optimization and different strap points allow for various carrying options, think: messenger bag, backpack, side bag, etc. All in very cool grey felt that has been treated, so it repels whatever nature throws at you.
