It’s incredible to see how much influence Warhol still has. After the extensive and still on-going collaboration with Levi’s, Burton now also brings a Warhol collection. The collection features several suits in funky colors, as well as jackets and longsleeve t-shirt.
The collection is expected to drop this fall, so keep your eyes open! You can be sure that heads turn when you wear the Andy Warhol x Burton collection and not only the heads of art lovers.
Most companies, including the sneaker companies are getting ready for Valentines Day. In the case of Vans, they are presenting a “Big Heart” slip-on for girls that you can purchase already and right at this moment you can even win it from them. Either way, as a girl or a guy who is still looking for a present, you might want to consider these!
For Spring 2007 Converse got together with Junya Watanabe. The designer made 6 versions of the low Chuck Taylor with all sorts of different patterns and materials in use. This quote describes perfectly the collaboration strategy of Junya Watanabe:
“One of the main concepts behind my men’s collection is to collaborate with brands that have one way or another, perfected something, The Chuck Taylor is certainly an example of this.”
The sneakers will drop early March at Barney’s, Colette, Comme des Garcons, Saks Fifth Avenue and other high end boutiques for 84 USD. Via Complex.
Today we came across this fantastic Tandem Umbrella built for the inseparable. Who did not have the problem yet of using an umbrella together and one always still got wet? This is the perfect solution for this problem and it does look strange at all actually. It has been produced with Jasmine Raznahan.
Indie street label Young Lovers has just launched its latest range for 2007, not to mention a brand new Web site. These looks are bold and shockingly graphic, but also strangely tasty (we happen to love diamonds in our hamburgers, but it’s an acquired taste). These designers are ready to “rock some eye sockets,” as they cleverly put it. We’re happily spreading the word.
This year is an exciting year for sneakers and sneaker enthusiasts. The Nike AF1 turned 25 ! And here we are in 2007 celebrating an icon of the women’s sneaker game as well: The Freestyle Hi by Reebok.
To celebrate the event Reebok commissioned a series of special editions of the Freestyle Hi. Feast your eyes on the very exclusive collaboration between Rolland Berry X Basquiat (our favorite of the bunch).
Here a brief bio of the sneaker so you get an idea:
The Freestyle Hi was made famous in the 80′s when it became the quintessential fitness footwear of the Aerobics crazed era, slouchy socks, tights, unitards and leotards, you get the picture.. The Freestyle which also exists in a low top version made of Reebok a pioneer and a leader in the athletic/lifestyle footwear for Women.
Since we all know that fashion is a cycle…. girls started to look for Hi top sneakers that were original and not as bulky as some men’s styles and there they were their moms 80′s kicks !! The Trensetters of this world gave the “Freestyle Hi “a new life you can spot them on the feet of Williamsburg Hipsters, Flatbush and Harlem round the way gals as well as Euro pop stars (M.I.A) who would have thought….
Nothing’s ever been good enough for baby…until now. AddedCulture’s designs have wee ones clamoring and aunties and uncles pinching chubby cheeks like never before. The apparel (kiddie couture, so to speak) is made of 100% cotton, which means it gets softer with every wash (check out the site for specific washing instructions). Normal stock runs from 6 to 12 months all the way up to toddlers 6T.
Shortly after the collaboration of Visvim with Kaws on the Zahra slip-on, they now present a new collaboration on the same shoe with Sophnet. This one is kept rather simple and features premium black leather and perforated pattern on the toe box. It kind of mixes a traditional “Budapest” leather shoe with a slip-on, which is an interesting combination.
For those of you that have not heard of Visvim before, they are one of the coming stars in the fashion business from Japan. Especially their shoe line has attracted lots of attention to date. Keep an eye on them.
This year Nike has already been very active and turned heads with the release of the Safari Pack. The pack overall consist now of 7 sneakers, all features wild colorways and imitations of animal furs. Of course these sneakers were first and foremost released in Asia and have been warmly welcomed by the more extreme asian fashion crowd. Now they are slowly making their way over to the US and Europe.
Get ready for some Safari on the feet of people!
