Evoke fond memories of days spent at the roller rink... This iconic roller skate functions as a bookend, door stop, or 1970's fetish object. The details in this piece are really quite incredible. Between the creases, worn-out stop at the toe, and the intricate laces, no aspect was overlooked. A couple words about our good friends: Areaware is a New York City based producer of everyday objects that are both functional and unusual. Their goals are to create thoughtful products that inspire an emotional response and to explore design languages as a means of creating new syncretic forms. They like to think they have a good sense of humor and that their objects are poetic. Areaware wishes to create a forum for young and local talent and together, they hope to become a strong voice for American design. They believe that appreciation for beauty is central to what it means to be alive and want to embody this principle in even the simplest things. Designer: Harry Allen
