We tried to have the site live by coming Thursday, but we're realizing that we don't have enough processing power and need to upgrade to a different cluster of servers. The good news is that the site will hopefully fly and there will be no waiting, the downside is that it will take 5 days plus migration and testing. So we're looking at another week for sure, pushing everything into the last week of June or first week of July. Whilst we cannot wait to unleash it on you, we need to make sure the experience will be as good as possible, so we just need to be patient. In the mean time, head over to our Facebook page and check out the latest screen grab with a bunch of fabulous new features!
Being in London we spent most of our time shopping at Harrods (mostly in the Food Hall but never mind that.) So every time we gift at least one friend (or ourselfs) with a special little something from over the Pond. This time we are eyeing the handsome 3D Noughts and Crosses game by JOHN JAQUES, which would look good on any coffee table. Unlike the traditional model, this one is a 3-dimensional version of the old-fashioned game,so the rows can be any direction. Clever!
No, this is not a reflection on what we look like after a holiday season of eating our weight in dark truffles, but rather cute wall decals that somehow caught our fancy. Available in 9 color palettes, (though we prefer the B&W) each packet contains two Fatty Birds for 12€.
Marie wouldn't need one of these "Wallpaper Travel Guides" to this beautiful city, but for those of us who didn't spend our formative years flitting from continent to continent, this is perfect. Compact enough to fit in your pocket (so you don't look like a gawky tourist) it has everything you need , plus a city at a glance aerial cardboard foldout , which comes in very handy.
Just because you love tea doesn't mean you need to use a stuffy Victorian tea cozy to keep your teapot warm. You know, one of those blue and white patterned things that looks like your grandmother's. Live it up a bit with the Sheep Tea Cozy and Tea Pot from Via Terra. Not only is it on sale, but it's made by a made by a cooperative of Kenyan women. Have your tea and drink it too.
I could just see myself caressing this ring all day, muttering the mantra "BLINDLOVE", which is what this Danish sterling silver jewlery spells out in braille. $195 From Object Fetish.
I collect tea lights. When entertaining, they create a festival of dancing lights in every room. Even with dozens of them that doesn't mean I've stopped buying them though, and this is my latest purchase, the "Fire" tea light from Unison designed by Nathalie Lahdenmäki, it immitates the light and atmosphere of traditional Finnish winter ice lanterns. The light seeps through the ceramic foam which resembles ice and creates a beautiful soft glow in your own home. $45. Don't worry, I left a few for others.
Traveling somewhere for the holidays? You might want to pick up the Glo Chess set first, which cleverly uses what's called "Conductive V30 VELCRO" technology to light up the chess board. Packaged in a compact, travel-friendly case, Glo Chess folds open to reveal a miniature chess board. Just put down a Pawn or a Bishop and the piece lights up. Designed by Adam Craft, you can read more at Yanko Designs.
You are a rebel by nature; discerning by design so not for you the traditional wedding vows and rings. Or maybe you prefer the Segment Ring piercings? Shiny. Declare your love in private. Sexy.
Got a sweet tooth and a short attention span? So does San Francisco-based candy company Lollyphile. One Halloween, armed with a lot of absinthe and no candy, the company’s creators ended up creating their signature absinthe lollipops and then finding their niche. Next up, they masterminded these Maple-Bacon lollipops, which are far more unusual but nonetheless delicious. They’re crafted from sustainable, organic, cured bacon (salty!) and pure Vermont maple syrup (sweet!), both of which appeal to breakfast people and those with a weakness for pork.
No, not what you are thinking, that's in February, we're talking about Wallpaper's design Oscars. Our dear friends there have pulled out all the stops for this year's awards, a formidable international judging panel, Kanye West as the host of the party, Paris as the city of choice (don't want to give anything away here) and of course, the eagerly awaited Design Awards issue of the mag itself, which is available today - if you can't wait to hold it in your hands, click here for a full list of winners.
The latest edition of the Prada Phone by LG is as aesthetically beautiful as you might expect but also offers technical upgrades such as 3G capability and a 5 megapixel camera featuring slow motion and DivX playback. Other features include Wi-Fi, a full HTML browser, and that slick keyboard which slides out when needed. Rumor is that it will go for around $400.
For all of you who are in wonderful San Francisco at the moment, you shouldn't miss the Storeroom for all your holiday shopping. A brilliant idea by the fabulous folk over at Citizen Citizen, the Storeroom features some of the best selection of design inspired gifts we've seen in a while at up to 50% less than your usual retail. Now if that isn't an incentive that's hard to come by these days. So, with that said, head over to 2226 Bush St at Filmore and start shopping. Oh, and if you go tonight, Dec 11, then you can enjoy some lovely drinks, courtesy of California Home and Design magazine. Just rsvp to rsvp at the-storeroom dot com. Enjoy!

Isn't this exquisite ? Not only a decorative piece, it also functions as a pitcher. Designed by Marcelo Lucini , it's made of alpaca, which resembles silver but doesn't tarnish as quickly. We'd be happy just to admire it. $591 at Couture Lab.
Who says rain boots have to be dull? It's gray enough outside without you adding to the gloom. Add some color and humour to your day with the brand-new tokidoki rain boots from one of our fave designers, Simone Legno. Don't have a cheese cave? Yeah, us neither, but we do have the next best thing -- Formaticum Cheese Papers. These porous papers let oxygen in and allow cheese to breathe which means they won't spoil as fast. Who knew? Two-ply material simulates a cave environment, you see, by regulating humidity and prevents cheese from drying out. Includes 15 sheets. Made in France, but of course.
We volunteered for this job, only to find out it's actually a gadget that cuts breathing time from an hour to just one minute by gently bubbling air through wine. Interesting concept but for $50 , we think we'll stick with the old-fashioned decanter method. Uses 2 AAA batteries (not included) to aerate up to 230 bottles. 11" long. Hand wash. Available from 'Sur la table'
In case you missed this entry in the Next Gen PC contest -- after all, it was #944 -- designers Zhongren Zhang and Chun Yang designed the dream diary for outdoorsy travelers, such as backpackers. (Ed note: Here at C&M we prefer room service over a campfire.) In this so-called book, different pages include different functions, like media recording, solar recharging, GPS navigation, flexible LCD screen and EL illuminant (light). Its' closer to a computer than a diary actually, and with all the electronic features, travelers can write and share their trips in real time. To read morea bout it, check out Next Gen Design.
I'm all for different traditions but this one just made me go "Ewwwww!" Nyotaimori, the Japanese tradition of presenting Sushi on a naked woman - or Nantaimori if it's a man -- is considered a rare treat in Japan. To mimic this tradition but still enjoy a hygenic meal, try these body-shaped Bodylicious platters by designer Hiroshi Tsunoda. Available in white or black at Design Code.
Ladies don't fix their make-up in public, but there's nothing wrong with sneaking a quick peak with this cute little pocket mirror from Betty Joy. Afterall, if you hair is standing up like a rooster's comb who's going to tell you? £2.99.
Designer Gopinath Prasana envisions a future where most of our tech devices are disguised as jewelry. We're almost there with some Bluetooth headsets as it is. The iBangle is a thin piece of aluminum with a multi-touch track pad, and all the functionality of a regular iPod. So you don't go banging round your precious player , a cushion inside the ring inflates to keep itself taut against your wrist . Sadly, it's only a concept at this stage but we'll keep you informed.
